Eric, would you be willing to write an article on the concept of VMware memory sharing? The question that came up recently is why do some VM guest’s performance graphs show memory sharing lines, but others do not. Of those lines, the shared memory lines are an inverse of the used memory lines on some guests, but on other systems there is no relationship of the shared memory line to the used memory. How does VMware determine when shared memory feature is applied to a VM guest, how does it determine what “like” systems are, can the feature be manually enabled or disabled, and some background of what this feature does and the problems is solves or creates?
