HP Performance Viewer
January 14, 2013I decided to check out the new HP Performance Viewer and found it to be pretty useful. The appliance comes as an OVF so it’s great for importing into your vSphere environment. Once it’s installed you can go to the management URL and all you have to do is provide the name of the vCenter and login credentials. That’s all for the configuration!
At this point I’d give the appliance some time to gather statistics, but if you just can’t wait I’ll give you some of the details from my install.
The first screen I looked at showed my ESXi hosts based on the total amount of memory. (This screen reminded me of a VMTurbo Appliance I once download)
You can drill down into any one of those hosts to get configuration summaries and performance information.
These performance statistics can be shown on virtual machines, resources pools, clusters, data stores and hosts. I actually used it to troubleshoot some storage issues recently.
