Renew your VCP 5 Certification Now

Amazing news that the latest version of vSphere has been announced.  vSphere 6 is now just around the corner from being generally available, but one can assume that the VCP 6 exam is still several weeks away from being available.  If you’re like me, your VCP 5 is scheduled to expire in March.  AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Quick, study for an exam that you’ve already taken and passed in the past so that you can keep your certification and then take the VCP 6 which is likely just around the corner.

Well, yeah, I know this is kind of a bummer, but the good news is that you can take the VCP 5 Delta exam online from the comfort of your own laptop, and if you do it before March (I assume thats about the only reason to still take the version 5 exam) then you can do it for half price.  Be sure to enter the promotion code VCP550D and request authorization.  http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=51919&ui=www_cert

If you’re wondering about the exam, I can tell you that just because you’re already a VCP and that you work with vSphere on a regular basis, and you may be able to look up some things since it’s an open book exam, you should still not take the exam lightly.  I would take some time to study for it because it’s not a formality.  The test questions can take you by surprise.

I was expecting to have a lot of questions about changes between versions and some basics just to re-validate the skillset, but I found the test to be fairly challenging.  It’s not something that will likely require hours and hours of studying but you should be prepared for it.

In any case, take advantage of the discounted price and the fact that you can take it at home, before your VCP expires.  The requirements to certify from scratch are far more painful than just sitting a 90 minute open book exam.
